The Technology Behind Assesia

A detailed look at the four core systems that power every assessment on our platform — from question parsing to real-time analytics.

Universal Question Engine

Core Module 01

The Question Engine is the foundation of Assesia. It accepts questions through a single-textarea input and intelligently parses both plain text and mathematical notation in real time.

Native KaTeX Rendering

Any equation wrapped in standard delimiters — $x^2 + y^2 = r^2$ for inline or $$\int_0^1 f(x)\,dx$$ for block display — is rendered instantly using KaTeX. This means complex Physics, Chemistry, and Biology equations appear exactly as they would in a printed textbook, with zero additional formatting effort from the teacher.

Taxonomy Mapping

Every question is mapped to a strict 7-level educational taxonomy: Board → Class → Subject → Chapter → Topic → Sub-Topic → Difficulty. This granular tagging is what enables the platform's downstream analytics to identify precisely where a student is struggling — not just "Chemistry," but "Organic Chemistry → Reaction Mechanisms → SN2 Reactions."

Un-bypassable Security

Core Module 03

The online exam portal is engineered from the ground up around a simple principle: once a student starts, the system controls the experience entirely.

1

Single-Attempt Lockout

Each student UID can only access a given Test ID once. If the session is terminated — whether by submission, network failure, or closing the tab — the attempt is permanently recorded and re-entry is blocked.

2

Timestamp Validation

Every exam has a strict start_at and expire_at window. Attempting to access the portal outside this window results in a hard rejection at the login gate.

3

Forced Auto-Submit

A live countdown timer runs in the exam header. When it reaches 00:00, the system calls an un-bypassable handleAutoSubmit() function that locks the session, serializes the current answer state, and permanently transitions the UI to a "Submitted" screen.

Microscopic Diagnostics

Core Module 04

Assesia's analytics go far beyond a simple percentage score. Because every question is tagged with our 7-level taxonomy, the grading engine can generate a diagnostic breakdown that pinpoints exactly where a student failed.

The 7-Level Taxonomy Drill-Down

Board→Class→Subject→Chapter→Topic→Sub-Topic→Difficulty

Instead of telling a parent "Your child scored 62% in Science," Assesia tells them: "Your child is consistently weak in Physics → Optics → Refraction through Prisms, but strong in Chemistry → Organic → Nomenclature." This transforms parent-teacher meetings from vague conversations into actionable, data-driven discussions.

Eliminating Guesswork

Teachers no longer need to manually scan answer sheets to identify class-wide patterns. The system aggregates performance across all students and highlights which topics need classroom re-teaching — automatically, after every single test.
